The goal of instruction for the elementary age students is teaching the timeless truths of our Catholic faith every year. There are numerous opportunities to engage families and their children in activities allowing the rich traditions of our faith to be carried on to the next generation.


Elementary Religious Education

 The purpose of this program is to provide ongoing instruction of elementary age children from grades 1 through 6. Faith First, curriculum developed by RCL Benziger, uses a unique, effective and comprehensive approach to learning. The scope and sequence is a spiral approach to learning the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church– Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. Each pillar is taught and developed on every grade level ensuring that the beliefs are introduced and reinforced as the children mature in their faith. Students have several options to accommodate busy schedules. On the registration form choose:
1 of the 4 Options:

  • June, Summer R.E. 9-12:15, 10 days (M-F)

  • July, Summer R.E. 9-12:15, 10 days (M-F)

  • Wednesday 5:30-6:45pm Weekly class October-April

  • Sunday 9:30-10:30am Weekly class October-April

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW)

 There is no registration for this program for children ages 5 yrs through 5th grade. The children are dismissed by the priest before the first reading. It is offered the first four Sundays of the month during all the Masses: Sat. 5:30, Sun. 9:00,10:45 and 12:30. This program is an enrichment to the religious education classes; giving the children the opportunity to hear, discuss, and share their views on the readings.

Children’s Sacrament Program

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is offered beginning in the 2nd grade to those who have been attending religious education classes. Reconciliation classes will begin in early January, followed by First Eucharist classes. Required parent sessions occur simultaneously. Classes are offered on Tuesdays beginning in January from 6:30-7:45pm. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is generally celebrated in February, and the Sacrament of Eucharist celebrated the first weekend in May.

Rite of Christian Initiation adapted for Children (RCIC)

This process is designed for children, above the age of seven, who have not been baptized or have had little to no faith development. This process includes the parents attending classes with their children. These special classes will be handled on an individual basis, please contact the church office.
