Las Posadas Committee – The familiar Bible stories that chronicles Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem is relived every year at Christmas time in churches and homes all over the world. In Mexico each December, it actually comes to life once again, as Mary and Joseph’s long ago search for lodging is re-enacted for nine consecutive nights in the festive ritual of Las Posada, “Posada” means inn or lodging in Spanish. The idea of commemoration the holy family’s journey to Bethlehem can be traced back to St. Ignatius Loyola during the 16th century. He suggested a Christmas novena, or special prayer to be said on nine successive days.

Our Las Posadas celebration was started in 2002. Being the multi-cultural community that we are, the idea of introducing this Mexican custom to the parish came about. The excitement grew as our parish family and friends were invited to participate. A large number of parishioners responded with a lot of enthusiasm and volunteered to help with their time, talent and treasure. The night of the celebration over 300 people gathered in the activity center. Through song, scripture and prayer, an abbreviated version of Las Posadas was re-enacted. A fun filled fiesta followed in the Great Room at the conclusion of the procession. While a delicious Mexican dinner was being served, a group of folkloric Mexican dancers in their beautiful colorful costumes danced to mariachi music and children swung at the candy filled piñatas. Volunteers are always needed. If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer call Ross Martinez at (817) 478-6101.

Men’s Club - The Men’s Club is a social group formed to promote opportunities for fellowship for men of all ages who are involved in our parish. We meet the second Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The meetings usually consist of a gathering time, a meal, a business meeting, a guest speaker, and time for fellowship. Fellowship includes ping pong, foosball, cards, chess, bridge and general camaraderie. During the football season, we fire up the 50-inch TV and watch the games.
The Club manages the Annual Parish Picnic and hosts the New Year’s Eve dance. The Club acts on special projects to improve the buildings and grounds. Through these events, and many other planned activities, there are many opportunities to volunteer your service to our parish. Some events are geared toward improving our spiritual lives while others are aimed at just having fun. Visit the Men’s Club Web page.

Women’s Guild - The Women’s Guild is a social group for women of all ages, formed to promote friendship, education, and service. The meetings are held on the third Monday of each month in the Parish Hall. Most meetings include a gathering time, business meeting, a program, and social activities. During the year, we have socials for ourselves as well as for couples. If you feel a need to give something back to the Lord for all that He has given you, we offer opportunities doing charitable deeds such as driving for Meals on Wheels, preparing funeral meals for members, and doing the little things that keep the Lord’s house running – cleaning, washing, and polishing. We share some of the responsibilities of the annual Parish Picnic. Our activities require lots of volunteers.

  • Meals on Wheels- Come help deliver meals on Wednesdays and Thursdays of each week for the shut-in in the community. Contact Carole Vines, 817-478-8010.
